Who we are
Firdeus is a free app made by Saimir Beqiraj (“we”, “us”), based in the United Kingdom. We are responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). Contact us at selam@firdeus.studio.
What stays on your phone
These never leave your device and we cannot see them:
- Your location. Used only on your phone to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
- Your private journal.
- Your settings, bookmarks, reading position and dhikr counts.
- Notifications. Verse and prayer reminders are scheduled by your phone itself.
What we store if you join the community
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address (from email sign-up, or shared by Apple or Google when you sign in with them) | To create your account, let you sign in, and send account emails such as confirmation or password reset. Never shown to other users. |
| Display name | Shown next to your posts, unless you choose to hide your name on a post. |
| Posts, replies, “I made du‘a” and “Helpful” taps | To run the community. |
| Flags you raise and people you block | To keep the community safe. |
| Technical sign-in records (such as time and IP address) | To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse. Kept by our hosting provider for a limited time. |
Our legal basis is providing the service you asked for (contract) and keeping it safe (legitimate interests).
Who can see what
- Approved posts and replies are public inside the app, including to people who are not signed in.
- If you hide your name on a post, other members see “A member”. Moderators can still see who wrote it, so they can act on abuse.
- Moderators read new posts before they are published and review flagged content.
Services we use
- Supabase hosts the community database and accounts, on servers in London, UK.
- Apple and Google, only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Resend sends account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets, from servers in Ireland (EU).
- Islamic Network streams the Quran recitation (Mishary Rashid Alafasy) when you press Listen or use Pray along. Like any website, it sees your device’s internet address; we send it nothing else.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking services.
How long we keep it
We keep your community data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, profile, posts, replies, reactions, flags and blocks are deleted straight away. Hosting provider backups and logs are removed on their normal cycle.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to how we use it. You can change your display name and delete your account in the app under Settings, or see Delete your account. For anything else, email us. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
The community is for people aged 13 and over. The rest of the app can be used by anyone and collects nothing.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
